So what I genuinely think is the best rnb single to have come out of the UK in years (real talk), finally get’s its official release October 26th. McLean, formally known as Digga is an incredible singer and extremely talented songwriter who I gave the DJ B Recommends treatment here back in February (and I showcased the remix featuring Tinie Tempah….here).

This kid is so stupidly heavy, its not even fair. Ever since I heard his debut single ‘I know’ a couple months back, I thought he was big. I saw all the youtube videos he did (I won’t post them, just youtube him innit. They are all there) and simply put, he’s a star.

This kid came to my attention back in March when there was some mad industry frenzy of A&R’s, Record labels, Management companies, and Publishing companies all trying to hunt him down. I tracked him down and had to see what all the fuss was about.
I wasn’t disappointed.
After chatting to him and get some tracks of his, I realised why everybody wants a piece of mnek (pronounced em-en-e-kay). I played his tracks first on radio anywhere (1xtra obvs) and the response from the listeners was nuts! This kids music is dope as it gets….oh did I forget to say…..

14! yes, a teenager still! studying and all that jazz! Madness. You know someone is talented when they write/produce/arrange and perform material as good as most music out there in the mainstream. At the age of 14.

Straight out what seems to be the hottest musical hotspot right, Canada…I bring to you; Slakah The Beatchild.
Producer/MC/Vocalist Slakah is one of the most soulful dudes I’ve heard in a minute! Supporting his debut album Soul Movement Vol 1 since mid last year (big ups Omar for the hook up uuuurly…), this dude is a sick individual (whose lyric is that, I say it all the time, but cant remember where its from?!?).
The album boasts some of Canada’s hottest Rnb and Hip Hop talent from Ray Robinson, Ebrahim, Melanie Durant (dunno if she’s Canadian but still)…..and yes, the man that everyone is talking about. Probably the sickest MC out there right now….DRAKE!
The album is a straight purchase (itunes, amazon, all them ones); if your into Slum Village, Dilla, Tribe, Drake even, then cop!!!!!

This is the girl that is responsible for the biggest record deal signing of 2008. Introducing Clare Maguire..
I’ve been listening to Clare Maguire’s demo for the last 4-5 months now and thought it was about time I gave her the DJ B recommends love.
Last year this young lady (dunno how old she is, lets go with 22) had every single label and A&R getting out there cheque books trying to sign this talent (including Rick Rubin and apparently a certain Mr Hova???). Eventually signing to Universal (can’t remember which part of Universal), she now has a pretty big expectation ahead of her. I think she’ll pull it off, incredible voice! Expect Clare Maguire to be THE household name by the time the years out.
